DMV Champ works without an account and keeps your progress on your phone. This page says exactly what leaves it, when, and why.
Effective September 16, 2026
1. Who we are
DMV Champ (the “app”) is published by CloudForge, a company registered in France at [registered address], registration number [company registration number] (“we”, “us”). We are the data controller for the personal data described in this policy. You can reach us at contact@cloudforge.fr.
The app is available on the App Store for iPhone and iPad. This policy covers the app and this website. It does not cover the App Store itself, which is run by Apple under Apple’s own privacy policy.
2. In short
- No account. There is nothing to sign up for. We don’t know your name, and the app never asks for it.
- No tracking. This version of the app contains no advertising, no analytics service and no third-party code. It does not track you across other apps or websites.
- Nothing sold. We do not sell, rent or trade personal data, and never will.
- Your progress stays on your phone. Your answers, scores, mistakes and settings are stored on your device and are not uploaded anywhere.
- A few things are sent, only when needed. The app fetches its questions from our server, and it sends us a message when you report a question, contact us, or the app crashes. Each of these is described below.
3. What stays on your phone
Everything about your learning is stored locally on your device, inside the app’s own storage, and nowhere else:
- your answers, which questions you got right or wrong, and the questions you saved
- your predicted score and its history, your streak and your daily activity
- your simulated exam attempts and their results
- your settings: your state, your exam date, your daily goal, your language, sounds, vibration and reminder preferences
- the downloaded questions, pictures and exam table
The app does not use iCloud or any other sync service, so this data does not leave your device or follow you to another one. Study reminders are scheduled on your phone by the app itself. There are no push notifications and no server involved.
You can erase your learning history at any time from Settings › Reset progress. Deleting the app deletes everything it stored.
4. What the app sends, and when
The app talks to one server, which we run. There are five occasions on which it does so. Every request carries a random install identifier (see section 5) and, except for the first, a short block of diagnostics: the app version and build, the iOS version, the device model, your device language and which set of questions you have installed. None of this identifies you.
| When | What is sent | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Getting the questions | The install identifier only. | The questions, pictures and exam table are downloaded from our content server rather than built into the app, so we can correct them without a new version. The identifier lets us limit how often one install can download them. |
| Reporting a question | The question’s number and the first part of its text, the reason you picked, your message, your state, the diagnostics, and your email address only if you type it in. | So we can find and fix the question you are telling us about, and reply if you asked us to. |
| Contacting us | The topic you picked, your message, your state, the diagnostics, and your email address only if you type it in. | To answer you. |
| After a crash | Apple’s crash diagnostic for the app (the technical trace of what the app was doing when it stopped) and the diagnostics above. No learning data and none of your words. | To find and fix the bug. It is sent the next time the app opens after a crash. |
| When something fails inside the app | A short technical description of the failure, from a fixed list (for example “the questions could not be downloaded”), and the diagnostics above. | To notice when a download or a save is failing for many people at once. |
Question reports, support messages and crash reports are also delivered to our mailbox as email so we can act on them. If you added your email address, replies come from contact@cloudforge.fr.
The app sends nothing else. In particular, it never sends your answers, your scores, your mistakes, the questions you saved, your exam date or anything about how you use it.
5. The install identifier
When it first needs to reach our server, the app generates a random identifier and keeps it on your device. It is not Apple’s advertising identifier, it is not tied to your Apple account, and it is not linked to your name, email or anything else about you. Its only job is to let our server limit how many requests one installation can make in a day. Deleting the app deletes it. Our server logs keep only a shortened, one-way hash of it.
6. How long we keep it
- Question reports and support messages: kept until the issue is resolved and for a reasonable time after, and deleted on request (see section 9).
- Crash reports: the crash file is kept for 365 days, then deleted automatically.
- In-app failure events: deleted automatically after 30 days.
- Server logs: deleted automatically after 14 days. They contain no message text, no email address and no IP address.
- Download quota counters: deleted automatically after 48 hours.
7. Where it is processed
Our server runs on Amazon Web Services in the United States. Emails to our mailbox are sent through Amazon Web Services in Ireland. If you are in the European Economic Area, this means that a question report, a support message or a crash report you send is transferred to the United States. That transfer relies on the standard contractual clauses approved by the European Commission, which are part of our agreement with Amazon Web Services.
8. Who it is shared with
We share personal data with no one except the service providers that process it on our behalf, under contract, and only to the extent needed to run the app:
- Amazon Web Services, which hosts our server, stores the reports and crash files, and delivers the emails.
- Apple, which distributes the app through the App Store and collects its own data under its own policy, for example when you download the app or leave a review.
We may also disclose data if the law requires it, for example in response to a valid court order. We do not sell personal data and we do not share it for advertising.
9. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to receive a copy of it. If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, these rights come from the GDPR and you may also complain to your data protection authority. If you are in California, you have the rights set out in the CCPA, and we confirm that we do not sell or share personal data as the CCPA defines those terms.
Because the app has no account, the only personal data we may hold about you is what you chose to send us: a question report, a support message, or an email address you typed in. To exercise any of these rights, write to us at contact@cloudforge.fr or use Settings › Contact us in the app and pick the topic Privacy or my data. Tell us the approximate date and, if you have it, the email address you used, so we can find the record. We answer within 30 days.
Everything stored on your device is yours to delete: use Settings › Reset progress or delete the app.
10. Children
The app is made for people preparing for a driver’s license knowledge exam, which in most states means people aged 15 or older. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. The app asks for no personal data at all unless you choose to write to us. If you believe a child under 13 has sent us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
11. Security
Every connection between the app and our server is encrypted with HTTPS. The questions are served over signed links that expire. Reports and crash files are stored encrypted at rest, in storage that is not publicly accessible. Our server logs deliberately leave out anything that could identify you, including your IP address and the text of your messages.
12. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will publish the new version here with a new effective date. If a change means the app would send something it did not send before, we will say so in the app before that version ships.
